Overview
This week we will select from the list of jobs in Arlington that we investigated last week and explore them in detail.
Friday, Februay 27th
Classwork: Businesses Close to Home
Today you will work on a individual assignment (though you are encouraged to help each other complete it) looking for businesses in your neighborhood.
Prepare a short presentation to share with the class next Tuesday that has the following:
- A map showing the area where you live.
- A list of 20 to 30 businesses located within walking distance.
Use an online mapping service like OpenStreetMap, Google Maps, Apple Maps, Bing Maps or HERE WeGo to find the area around where you live and take a screenshot of it.
Then use both the mapping tools and other online search tools to locate businesses within walking distance. Are there any places to eat? Are their places to shop? Places to get your hair styled or cut? Speciality stores?
We will share these investigations in class next Tuesday. Have fun!
